Water Lily – I am filled Water Lily, also known as White Pond Lily is a white lotus-like flower which you see growing on still ponds from late spring to mid summer. Herbal preparations are used to treat deficient kidney "yin" or low fluids in the kidneys. Early allopaths used a poltice from the root to treat boils and painful tumors. In both these cases the plant draws out the heat of the inflammation, easing pain. There are further similar treatments to the bladder, bowels and prostate, all involving the relation between heat and fluids. These treatments become significant metaphors when we begin to talk about the action of the flower essence. Water Lily is a powerful remedy for a needy personality. This is someone who, because of a mistreatment or neglect in childhood, feels generally unfulfilled and constantly needs the attention of others. There is a wide spectrum of neediness from attention-seeking to narcissism. In all cases the personality makes up for the lack of development by drawing energy from others. There is an active and passive range of this imbalance in the personality. Some will create drama to receive the attention that the personality craves, while others will tend to withdraw, subconsciously aware of the attention they receive from this passive activity. In all cases Water Lily creates a sense of self-sufficiency and fulfillment giving the individual, giving an ability to make healthier choices in relationships. Energetically, the second charka is the watery domain of emotions. A safe, loving childhood produces a tremendous reservoir of energy in this area. This energy is the substance of self esteem and is drawn up into the third charka and projected out as confidence, will forces or active intelligence. Lack of love, lack of understanding or acceptance of an individual by primary caregivers, and later by friends, depletes the watery potential of this charka. In most cases, it is fire in the personality that attempts to make up for the difference. A person over-uses the third charka to make up for the feeling of lack in the second, but without the cooler etheric fluids to supply it. He or she simply does not know how to receive unconditional affection or attention but rather learns conscious and subconscious ways of scheming, controlling and manipulating to feel a replica of a sense of fulfillment. This is a person who may always seem at-odds with someone or something. Sometimes this energy is directed at groups or takes on social or political issues. The result is the same. The intense fire in the personality converts to drama. The person takes a platform or soapbox or microphone to get attention from others. The balance of the water and fire in these two charkas is also pivotal in maintaining healthy fluids in the system. Dryness, heat or inflammations are characteristic physical imbalances. The kidneys, pelvic area and urinary tract are particularly suceptable to infections, cysts or boils. The fluids congesting to ease the problems are frequently too hot and cause further pain, discomfort or complications. This essence is helpful for infants who must be left in day-care most days of the week and for small children who must deal with being replaced as the youngest when another baby is born into the family. It is helpful for pets who are needy and crave attention. See Also: The Bach Chickory, Missouri Primrose and Blue Vervain. |
